He studied violin and trumpet at the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels, where he decided to specialise in violin. He carried off the first prizes of violin, chamber music and theory of music and also the pedagogic diploma.
Jo Vercruysse's first orchestra experiences as an accomplished musician were gained in the "Beethoven Academie".
In 1990 Rudolf Werthen engaged him as first violin player with "I Fiamminghi", where he became concertmaster in 2000. With this chamber orchestra he recorded several CD's and travelled a large part of the world.
From September 2001 on he is concertmaster of the "Symfonieorkest van Vlaanderen" and he occupies the same function at the chamber orchestra "Prima la Musica, conducted by Dirk Vermeulen.
He is also a teacher of violin and chamber music at the Waregem Music Academy.
